Sabian's R&D team spent 24 months developing the STRATUS series in close collaboration with customers, artists, and industry experts. This new series continues Sabian's long tradition of industry leadership and sonic innovation.

The 14" hi-hats offer an articulate attack with a warm sound and a semi-dark diffusion. The medium-light top and medium-heavy bottom are the perfect combination for a clear, crisp attack with a touch of airy diffusion.

The 16", 18", and 20" crash models are fast and controlled, with a lower pitch and an explosive attack. These thin crash models have a fast decay with a deep tone that fits perfectly into contemporary music. The 16" is naturally slightly higher than its 18" and 20" siblings. The 18" crash offers a lower note, but is in line with the 16" and 20" models.

The 20" ride in the range is articulate with warm overtones that evolve into a controlled wash and a clear, powerful bell. The medium-light weight of these rides provides a balanced combination of stick attack and crashable overtones.

Sabian was created in 1981 in Canada by Robert Zildjian. Robert had left the Zildjian company after a disagreement with his brother Armand, but their father Avedis Zildjian III had passed on his family secrets to his two sons. This sharing of manufacturing secrets explains the proximity of certain Sabian and Zildjian series, in particular the AA and HH series which were the first 2 series originally manufactured by Sabian.
